Administrative Circular No. 33 (Rev.) – Duty Travel

Administrative Circular No. 33 (Rev.) entitled "Duty Travel", approved by the Director-General, is now available via the following link.

This revision cancels and replaces Administrative Circular No. 33 entitled "Duty Travel” dated January 2020.

The objective of these modifications is to implement the amendment of Staff Regulation
R V 1.27, which came into force on 1 January 2024.

This amendment provides for the direct payment of accommodation costs incurred during duty travel or their reimbursement on the basis of actual expenses, within the limits of the established daily travel allowance, rather than continuing to offer a lump-sum payment option.

The aim is to improve cost-effectiveness and to ensure uniform treatment of all members of the personnel. In exceptional cases, the traveler’s department Head may authorise reimbursement in excess of the maximum portion of the daily travel allowance for accommodation, provided this is in the interests of the Organization.

The revised Circular entered into force on 1 March 2024.
